Tata buys Land Rover and the Roverbrand


In March 2008 the heavily indebted Ford Company sold their British prestigious carmakers Jaguar and Land Rover along with the Rover Brand, the Daimler brand and the Lanchester brand.

The whole lot was bought by the Indian Tata Group and sources witihin the trade reveals that Tata were very anxious to get the Rover Brand in the deal. In autumn Ford sold the right to use the Daimler name as name of companies to Daimler AG in Germany, but now Tata owns the right to build cars with that name.
